I read Dr. Glickman’s blog post the other day and giggled.

Ever since having a conversation with a dear friend about the Palin porn he envisioned (filed under MILF of course) I’ve been waiting for the industry to pony up and release a Palin-inspired title. And after watching last night’s debate… I was hoping somebody would hurry and start filming…

The wait is over! Just read this on AVN:

Hustler Reveals Details of Palin Porn Flick
Lisa Ann to play lead role in ‘Nailin’ Paylin’

By: David Sullivan

BEVERLY HILLS, Calif. – Hustler Video has cast Lisa Ann as Republican vice-presidential candidate Sarah Palin in a porn spoof called Nailin’ Paylin.

Word of the latest political parody from Larry Flynt and company spread earlier today after the New York Daily News printed a rumor that Hustler was seeking Palin look-alikes on Craigslist. Hustler Video denied any connection with the ad but confirmed the Palin parody is in the works.

“Nailin’ Paylin will take the viewer on a naughty adventure to the wild side of that sexy Alaska governor,” the company announced in a press release. “Sara Paylin will not only be showing us some girl-on-girl lovin’ but will also be nailing the Russians, who come knocking on her back-door (wink, wink) and in a flashback, young Paylin’s creationist college professor will explain a ‘big bang’ theory even she can’t deny!”

One scene will show the Palin character in a lesbian threesome with characters based on Hillary Clinton and Condoleezza Rice. The movie will also feature a Bill O’Reilly character as the announcer who dishes dirt on the Paylin sex scandals.

“Obviously, the real life antics of Sarah Palin are much funnier than anything we could ever make up,” Hustler exec Jeff Thill told AVN. “Her public appearances seem more like a trailer for a Farrelly brothers film then a carefully executed run at the White House.”

Jerry T. is signed to direct. Hustler plans to have Nailin’ Paylin on the streets in time for the November election.

New York, NY (September 12, 2008) – As federal marshal Harry Pfarrer in the new Focus Features film, Burn After Reading, George Clooney is a kinky lothario, bedding several characters in the film including Linda Litzke (Frances McDormand) and Katie Cox (Tilda Swinton). Not content simply to create his own special sex chair, Harry carries with him a purple microfiber Ramp from Liberator Bedroom Adventure Gear, designed to further spice up his sex life.

“We were thrilled to learn that our Ramp, one of the company’s best-sellers, would be featured in the film, Burn After Reading,” said Louis Friedman, Director and CEO, Liberator. “We have always advocated the use of Liberator products for people of all shapes and sizes and inclusion in a major Hollywood film truly gives us that added mainstream appeal. As happened when Liberator products were featured in Meet the Fockers in 2004, we anticipate great interest as a result of the film.”

Featured three times in the film, the Liberator Ramp is first seen as Harry and Katie enter her Georgetown home, followed by a scene in Katie’s bedroom in which Chad Feldheimer (Brad Pitt) hides from George Clooney in the closet, spying the Liberator Ramp on the bed. In the third scene, Harry storms out of Katie’s house after a fight, but not before returning for his Liberator Ramp, which he stuffs in the trunk of his car.

A completely new category of intimacy gear, Liberator shapes and furniture transform ordinary beds and bedrooms into creative sex terrains by employing angles, elevations, curves, textures, environments and motion. The Liberator Ramp offers support with a deep slope elevation which strategically lifts your lover’s hips to an altitude of 12 inches, offering access at critical angles that accentuate sensitivity.

A dark spy comedy from Academy Award winners Joel and Ethan Coen (No Country for Old Men, Fargo, The Big Lebowski), Burn After Reading is the story of what happens when an ousted CIA official’s memoir accidentally falls into the hands of two unwise gym employees intent on exploiting their find.

Being a fan of anything theatrical I can’t wait to take in the newest Coen Brothers movie as it does star some of my favorite actors… and even better that it also stars one of my favorite pieces of bedroom furniture…

Kudos to the Coen Brothers for such an educated pick!

I just saw this article posted on AVN.com. What a fantastic mainstream recognition that safer sex can be great sex! In addition to all of the other amenities provided to the athletes it’s awesome to know that condoms and safer sex are also valued. Not to say the reasoning (see “embarrassment” quote below) is always the most sex-positive but it’s still good to see people thinking ahead…

One of Elasun’s many sports condom advertisements

BEIJING – What are the Olympic athletes doing when they are not competing? If condom use is anything to go by, a number of the 10,500 athletes in the Olympic village are keeping fit in pairs. Unlike at the 2000 Sydney games, Beijing is not planning on letting the rubber johnny supply run out. The International Olympic Committee, UNAIDS, and the Beijing Organizing Committee for the Games of the XXIX Olympiad (BOCOG) are providing “100,000 condoms as part of a campaign on HIV prevention and anti-discrimination,” reports Reuters.”There are many young, strong, single people in the athletes’ village and, like everywhere, some will fall in love or other things so we need to make condoms available,” Ole Hansen, spokesman for UNAIDS China, told Reuters.Condom manufacturers in China haven’t let this initiative go unnoticed.

Elasun, for example, launched a Beijing 2008 marketing campaign with spots on the themes of archery, swimming, basketball and rings men, adapting the image of condom for each category. Also, for sale on various websites, but not official merchandise, are condoms depicting the five Olympics mascots.

As with other Olympic games, condoms will be available at medical centers at athletes’ centers in Beijing, Qingdao, and Hong Kong. Out of respect to the many cultures and belief systems of the athletes, condoms will not be put in rooms. In the name of discretion, two condoms will be tucked into brochures on HIV.

“No one can see that you are carrying condoms to save any embarrassment,” said Hansen.

“People are encouraged to take the leaflets and to take as many as they like. They can use them or take them home for friends and spread the knowledge and awareness.”

Hansen told Reuters that the number of condoms is based on consumption at previous games. In Sydney, 70,000 condoms were quickly exhausted, according to Reuters, and another 20,000 were soon supplied. At Athens in 2004, 130,000 were supplied. At Salt Lake City in 2002, 100,000 condoms were distributed, down from the intended 250,000 due to protests from religious groups.

Apparently a Sweden <strike>sex toy company</strike> pharmacy that sells sex toys [Thanks Anne!] has been charged with discriminating against men and placing a double-standard, where they give a “misguided and untrue view on sexuality where a woman with a dildo is seen as liberated, strong and independent, whereas a man with a blow up plastic vagina is viewed as disgusting and perverted.” [source]

Oh boy! It’s time for the Olympics again – I think of it as a time of gratitude. Usually I take this time to reflect on how grateful I am that San Francisco didn’t get chosen as the site for the Olympics, because I like to keep my daily commute to under three hours each way. This year I’m also grateful that I’m not in Beijing for the actual Olympics, where the pollution is apparently so bad that my asthmatic self probably shouldn’t even watch them on tv.
You may reply to this, “Um, sex blog? Hello?” That’s a fair response.
Another thing I’m thinking about the Olympics is sex testing for female athletes*. Yesirree, if you’re competing in women’s sports in the Olympics, and you seem masculine, based on completely non-objective measures, you may be “evaluated (on your) external appearances by experts and undergo blood tests to examine their sex hormones, genes and chromosomes for sex determination”. Sex testing was the norm until 1999, when the IOC officially stopped it, probably because in the 31 years it was required, gender testing has never found a man masquerading as a woman. For some reason it was deemed appropriate to bring it back for the Olympics this year, though.
There’s a great post over at Bioethics Forum (my current favorite science blog) where some pertinent questions are posed, along with some great explanations of biology, genes and gender.

If women aren’t allowed to be naturally too strong, how about sex-testing male athletes for being too graceful in sports where grace counts? I’m thinking diving. And figure-skating. If a diver or figure-skater who is a man seems a little too graceful, why not sex-test him to see if he’s really a female?

Sex testing has been destructive in the past – Santhi Soundarajan was stripped of a silver medal in 800 meters at the 2006 Asian Games because she was found to be chromosomally male, probably due to Androgen Insensitivity Syndrome (which wouldn’t actually provide a performance advantage), subsequently attempted suicide. It has never been successful in it’s intended purpose. Singling out “masculine” women for testing is worse than testing by itself, and if anything un-levels the playing field instead of making things more fair, because the specter of sex testing could be used as a threat – “You beat me in this race and I’ll say it’s because you’re really a man.” It’s easy to imagine an athlete going through the rest of their careers with an asterisk after their record because she was suspected of not being a woman. The only good news is that the resurrection of sex testing seems to be universally considered to be stupid, and news articles about it are an opportunity for education about sex and gender, which you don’t usually see in the New York Times.

* see how I brought it back around?

Walking to work I saw paper after paper, national and local, touting the good news that gay marriage is now officially legal in California. The historic coupling of Phyllis Lyon and Del Martin was San Francisco’s first to be married after being together for over 50 years… honestly it brought tears to my eyes. Not just because it’s gay marriage but because – well, it’s just ludicrous. What gives anybody the right to deny people who love each other the rights and privileges that everybody else has. Whether people should get all those rights and privileges for registering their love with the government is a discussion for another day. For today it’s just so sweet to see photos of couples who are finally getting to do what straight people have done and done again for years.

But, as with many political situations, this issue runs deeper than local… there are people all over the world engaged in this same struggle for rights and we have many battles to wage before we can call it a day.

Many links later I read this article and it reminded me how far we have to go. This story is upsetting in so many ways and representative of the varied fights we have to fight and the difficult struggles the LGBT community has ahead of us:

Photo by: Jorge Saenz * News source [Yahoo]

ASUNCION, Paraguay – A couple jailed on suspicion of having a same-sex wedding was freed Monday after a doctor determined that the groom is a hermaphrodite. Prosecutor Jose Planas ordered the couple jailed after their civil wedding Friday, when the priest scheduled to perform the religious ceremony the following day said he received a call saying the groom, Jesus Alejandro Martinez, was actually a woman.

Same-sex marriages are illegal in Paraguay, and news of the arrest became the talk of the nation.

Planas had threatened Martinez with five years in prison for falsification of documents, and said he could charge the bride, Blanca Estigarribia, with complicity.

But the couple was released Monday. A doctor who inspected Martinez in jail ruled that he is a hermaphrodite, with atrophied female genitals and well-developed male genitals, according to the couple’s lawyer, Jorge Cantero.

“Conclusion: He is a man,” Cantero said.

He also said the document in the name of Jesus Alejandro Martinez is legitimate, meaning the forgery charges wouldn’t have held up.

“So this case goes into the archives,” he said. “It will remain as an anecdote for the media and a bad experience for my clients.”

Martinez, who has some feminine traits, said he suspected an ex-girlfriend made the accusation to the priest.

“I always felt like a man, with no feminine inclination,” he said.

Martinez said the couple would continue to live along the border near the Argentine city of Clorinda — “where everybody knows us and loves us.”

And the beat goes on….
