California Supreme Court Ruling Document

Just blocks away from GV Headquarters, protesters are gathering for support for loved ones, personal grievance and connection, and large media recognition against Proposition 8, which added a new section (7.5) to the California Constitution stating that “Only Marriage between a Man and a Woman is valid or recognized in California.” That measure was passed in November 2008.

There’s been much to say on the topic, noted here in the GV Magazine as well. And in the months since the Prop 8 ruling, 5 states have opened up to equal marriage, with several more on the way.

Many are rallying in cities outside of California. CredoMobile and the Courage Campaign have set up a quick and easy way for people in other states to find their closest rally. Just text “RALLY” and your Zip Code to 27336.

Though many have already been arrested for peaceful protests on Market Street here in SF, the planned rally will begin at Civic Center meeting at 5pm and at 6pm march to Yerba Buena Gardens from dayofdecision.wetpaint.com, which also features rally locations for those out of state.

Here’s the official document of the California Supreme Court Ruling.
