What Carbon Footprint Does Your Love Have?

Locasexual n. An environmentalist who applies locavore logic to affection and, on principle, will date only locally. Refusing long-distance attachments and coolly calculating “sex miles,” this carbon-conscious canoodler makes love as romantic as a spreadsheet.

I was tickled to see that the Locavore revolution has an offshoot – the Locasexual movement – as defined above in my latest copy of Wired. I’m not convinced attraction, affection, love can be contained within 100 miles as I’ve had plenty of friends who’ve dabbled in long-distance relationships… and some products have even been designed to enhance those relationships.

The concept is intriguing, though, especially as we all start to tally up the Carbon Footprint of our daily extravagances.
