Feminist Porn Award Nominations Announced

Partly in response, other award ceremonies have sprung up to valiently honor those the AVN has overlooked. This weekend the GayVNs will take place this weekend in San Francisco – creating a separate event to honor the gay men of porn. *Note that by “Gay” they mean literally the genre, though they sometimes open it up to gay men who happen to be transmen. And recently, the Urban Spice Awards also picked up where the AVNs fell short, honoring the people of color in the industry who often are further marginalized to the ‘ethnic’ categories. With so much porn out there, it’s often difficult to find material which represents sexuality from a viewpoint of integrity and authenticity. That’s why the Feminist Porn Awards, headed by Allison Lee of Good For Her in Toronto, are a must.
Criteria of the Feminist Porn Awards include:
1) A woman had a hand in the production, writing, direction, etc. of the work.
2) It depicts genuine female pleasure
3) It expands the boundaries of sexual representation on film and challenges stereotypes that are often found in mainstream porn.
With those standards it’s no surprise that you can find many of the videos here at Good Vibrations. Some are so new that they have yet to be put to mass distribution.
