Double standards for Sex Toys? No….
By Kuono • Aug 13th, 2008 • Category: In the NewsYes! Apparently a Sweden sex toy company pharmacy that sells sex toys [Thanks Anne!] has been charged with discriminating against men and placing a double-standard, where they give a “misguided and untrue view on sexuality where a woman with a dildo is seen as liberated, strong and independent, whereas a man with a blow up plastic vagina is viewed as disgusting and perverted.” [source]
The business interjects that if there were good products for men, they would sell them as well, and that all their products are available to sale for ‘both men and women’ so they are not breaking any laws regarding sex discrimination.
And now, I will post two realistic alternatives for the debate. Get these, and lots of gender-neutral toys — who says a vibrating dildo is only for women? Phfffff… — at GV.
For the record, lubing up a masturbation sleeve and sticking my fingers in it turns me on. And I’m not the only one.

The thinking that women who use sex toys are open-minded and liberal is pretty standard. And the idea that men who use sex toys are perverted and lonely is also common. This is possibly due to the use of sex toys in relationships to assist in the woman achieving orgasm is very normal. Whereas men have no trouble arriving at their final destination, so to speak, and need no assistance.
That, coupled with the fact that many straight men think it’s ‘gay’ to be on the receiving end of anal sex toys, the use of sex toys on men hasn’t reached the accepted level of their use on women, at least not yet.
Calling Apoteket “a Sweden sex toy company” is a big mistake.
From my understanding, they are the state-run “pharmacy” in Sweden.
That detail is relevant because it is a pharmacy that sells sex toys, which is pretty unique in itself.
Let’s hope they can sell sex toys for men too soon!
Im gay and use the dildo. I like phone sex too. My e mail is loverman37@live.com
Thanks for the clarification, Anne! You’re right — and that is a pretty substantial fact.
