Dear Angel,

This is a very belated thank you for blogging about my book and for recommending it! I have a keyboarding injury and am very much behind the curve in finding sites that have mentioned it.

When I was going over my manuscript prior to getting it published, I knew some of the content was not P.C. I had gotten some advice from a friend years ago not to water down the content, that doing so would "cut the balls off the story." So I let certain remarks and events go into the book that would be offensive. "Oriental" is from a quote by another dancer talking about doing the Kopenhagen--I haven't heard that word much in the last 20 years.

But about the statements about the dwarf and Venus during the making of Green Door II, I can only say that porn in the 1980s and even now has its own heirarchy--and as an O'Farrell dancer competing with younger performers, I was very conscious of it. And I was acutely aware that my rival, Missy Manners, was the star, and it was hard to put up with her being cultivated around the O'Farrell during the movie. I knew that Art's coked-up whim wasn't motivated by generosity and felt that I had to be extra vigilent.

So, for the book I chose authenticity instead of political correctness.

Flawed as I am, I have evolved somewhat in the last 20 years--I no longer wear fur, for example.

I don't remember your partner working at Mitchell Brothers, but he could have been starting to work there during the last year or two when I was there--when I was mostly doing Ultra Room shows and no longer dancing in the New York Live, after I had burnt out on sitting in the audience.

It was great meeting you and your partner the night of the Valencia St. reading, and I appreciate everyone who has given my book some life and has blogged about it & recommended it.

I have had some decent reviews in $pread, SF Magazine, Village Voice, ads in NY Review of Books, and last week had an interview in a Danish newspaper, Politiken.

Thanks again for covering my book, and for your honest take on it.

Wishing you the best,
