A Collection of Dicks, Dongs, and Dildos

By Red Delicious • Dec 27th, 2007 • Category: Toy Reviews, sex tips

Lately I have been reveling in the collection of toys I have acquired in the past few years of my life. My coworkers have all heard me go down the list in utter shock of the numbers, and they kindly giggle at my disbelief. Since starting at Good Vibrations over a year ago, I have amassed a toy collection worth near $2000. Having been a collector all my life I am quite proud of this, as it is the most valuable and diverse collection to date. I thought it might be fun and interesting to share with you a look at my collection, tell you the things I love about each piece, and what still awaits to be added.

I’m going to start off with the dildos I own, because these are what inspired me to write this post in the first place. See, I keep them in a lovely little lavender mesh pouch (actually from the Vibrating Dilator Set), which sits on my nightstand. I see them every morning and each evening, glowing in jewel like tones, beckoning for me to take them out to play, and many a time I do. I am so lucky to have the variety I do to choose from. I definitely have favorites, but they all get used at least once in a while, so as to keep things from getting anywhere near monotonous. Anywho… Onto the list.

A note: All of the dildos I own are made of platinum silicone. That means they are 100% non-porous and highly temperature resistant. This also means they are more expensive than their rubber, vinyl, and latex friends who, unfortunately, are not as hardy. Silicone may cost more but it will last you a very long time. In fact, many companies guarantee their silicone toys for life.

(From left to right: Bubbles, Rippler, Curve, Tex, g-spot stub, Lonestar, Echo, and Angelina.)

Rippler: This is the textural choice of size enthusiasts. A whopping 7 1/2” x 1 7/8”, the Rippler’s incredible ridges give your G-spot the ride of its life. Mine came in a great teal color, which I think was from the test run only. Now this hefty toy comes in a tart purple and a fantastic green that’ll take all you Dorothys right back to the Emerald City.

Echo: Echo is like the little sister of the Rippler. She’s much daintier in stature but her ridges are quite a bit more pronounced. I just adore her, but unfortunately she was discontinued before I came on staff here at GV. (I would’ve had something to say about it.) Her pearly presence might not be requested by every party, but she’s definitely the belle of my ball. You can’t find Echo at Good Vibrations anymore but I know she is still in production at Tantus.

A note about highly textured dildos- these guys definitely feel great when used properly but can be uncomfortable for some folks when not. As a rule of thumb, try grinding with textural toys before you start thrusting. And if you choose to thrust, begin slowly. Also, make sure you are well lubed and fully aroused, the G-Spot might not like these toys if its not fully prepared for them.

G-Spot stubs from Vixen Creations: I think this was my first dildo, so you can imagine, Vixen isn’t exactly making them anymore. They are great though. I call them ‘g-spot stubs’ because they are stout and have a bit of an S-curve. I have two of these buggers, a red sparkly one that I bought and a plum-colored second I won in a raffle. They aren’t the greatest for harness use, due to their stature, but they make fabulous masturbation toys. Lately, I’ve been thinking of buying a couple of Pony Harnesses to go with the stubs. I think the combination would make for an incredible bout of mutual leg humping. If you like this idea, try it with GV’s Bullseye.

Tex: Tex was the predecessor to Mustang. This little fellow is only 4 inches by 1 1/4 inches of delicious VixSkin. VixSkin is the incredible invention of the highly creative folks over at Vixen Creations. It is a combination of soft and firm silicone that gives a life-like texture and density to their designs. Good Vibes no longer carries little Tex since the Mustang was born, a dildo that offers a bit more length to its users, but I still think it is a great toy for some folks. It makes a nice intermediate anal dildo, a great masturbation toy, and is perfect for folks who are new to penetration or out of practice. Vixen Creations is still making Tex, but Mustang gives you a little more bang for your buck and is much better in a harness.

Lonestar: Oh the Lonestar… What a heart breaker! I wish we still carried this piece. At about 2 inches by 6 inches, Lonestar is perfect for those of us who admire an impressive girth but whose holes aren’t quite equipped for the length of the Outlaw. Also made of wonderful VixSkin, this dude is quite the gentleman. His soft texture gently cushions awkward positions and deeper thrusts. Two other dildos that can offer you some of the same gentry are Buck and Bandit.

A tip for VixSkin patrons- throw your dual density dildo in the microwave for 10-20 seconds. The inner core will absorb the heat and slowly release it through the softer layer over the duration of your date.

Angelina: What is there really to say about Angelina but “Where did you come from?” Definitely the most unique and bizarre-looking dildo in the store, Angelina was designed from molds that were taken of several vaginas. Don’t ask me how they did it, I have no clue, but they did and very well. See, the shape of the toy was meticulously planned: The tapered tip is designed to slide into the posterior fornix of the vagina, aka the space around the cervix, so as to avoid hitting the cervix while still filling the entire cavern of pleasure. The giant hump in the middle is there to press deeply into the g-spot. The protruding handle has double duty to rub against the clit and also to fit your thumb while your palm sits comfortably in the concave base. Ideally, with your thumb and palm positioned correctly, pressing Angelina further into your body will create just the right pressure and movement to take you over the edge.
I don’t know if a dildo alone could bring me to climax alone, but nonetheless Angelina is wonderful. She creates a feeling of fullness like no other toy I’ve experienced. Not the greatest in combination with oral sex but try throwing a bullet vibe into the thumbhole or holding your Hitachi against the base for an incredible vibration experience. In actuality, there are so many things I could say about this toy; I might have to in a separate post.

Curve: This is the newest addition to the family and I don’t have much experience with the curve yet. I did wait for this one for about a year though. I remember the first time I saw it in the Fun Factory catalog, I was so excited I showed everyone at work. A G-spot toy with a handle? Incredible. And it is. I think this might be one of my favorite dildos to use during oral sex. The tip of it protrudes sharply from the shaft making for a lovely g-spot experience. The handle makes it easy to hold onto while box munching and the flexibility of the silicone makes it really easy to push out of the way for full access.

Bubbles: I love Bubbles. Unfortunately, mine is a prototype and doesn’t have a vibe hole like the ones we carry, but he’s still fun. Another great oral companion, try using Bubbles in the vagina during oral sex like you would use anal beads. Slowly pushing the toy in and gently pulling it out will engage your PC muscles while you pussy’s being licked and could be a sure-fire ticket to The Big O.

Nameless anal dildo
: Everyone who enjoys anal play at all should have one of these. My nondescript ‘anal dildo’ isn’t very attractive but works like a gem. Long and skinny, lightweight and easy to maneuver, these guys can be great for mild anal penetration. Whether you are an experienced player or just starting to explore the field, a toy like this will always see game time. At 4 1/2 inches long and just under an inch in diameter, it reaches a little more depth than most fingers and can be easily manipulated for quick, smooth penetration while other oral or digital stimulation is occurring. Try the Silk 1, it’s size is just so that it offers a little more than a finger for beginners and will be appreciated by more advanced users on days when your ass is a little more tense than usual.

P.S. Always use a good lube for anal play.

Even with all these dandies to choose from, I find myself still craving a couple additions. For one, I don’t have any double-ended or black dildos, so I’m planning on eventually purchasing a Share in black. Share has a phenomenal g-spot nub for the wearer’s stimulation, and a decently sized piece to penetrate you partner with. Even though it says it’s a harness-free toy, I think a harness would be most appropriate for this double, as any other double-ended dildo. Just like with the Feeldoe series from Tantus, it would take PC muscles of steel to have 100% thrustable use of this toy. Don’t get me wrong- there are men and women who have attained this level of higher being, I’ve met them, but most of us aren’t so lucky yet. So until then keep workin’ out with your Smartballs and Betty’s Barbell, and use your double with a harness for full positional advantage.

And lastly the Sex Tip of the Day:

Store your silicone toys in an appropriate container. It should be closed off tightly but should not be airtight. After your toys are cleaned off there still needs to be some flow for residual moisture to evaporate, but there should be minimal openings so as to discourage dust, loose hair, and pet fur from sticking to your toys. Pulling out a dusty dildo than smells like mildew is never sexy.

Collectively yours,

  1. What a great toy chest! Thanks so much for your post and for sharing!

I also have some lovely dicks from GV’s not too distant past — lovelies created by Vixen — the Spur and the Maverick. I love the dual density silicone. (Great heating tip!)

I’ve been eyeing the Share as well, ever since I saw Michelle Aston use it. Harness or no harness it’s very hot.

  2. Here’s a good idea… I’d be curious to hear from other readers about the toys they own, what they like or do not like in them, and maybe some creative ways of using them :)

This is a list of the toys I acquired over the past 10 years, in chronological order. Not in this list is my first vibrating plug, which I bought through GV, I think, back when I was a freshman in college. After a few not so successful/so-so attempts with it, I got rid of it within a year. I remember something interesting about the feeling during play, but I think at the time, I was not patient enough to learn about the toy and myself. If anyone new to toys does not feel too sexy after a few tries, I would still recommend to be patient and go slow; it is sometimes worth it (but if it really gets unpleasant, maybe you should move on to something else and chat with someone for advice).

I dropped anal play for about a year, until a girlfriend of mine introduced me to prostate stimulation during oral sex and masturbation. While I was used to self fingering during masturbation, for some reason, I never paid attention to my prostate. Go figure. But I will always remember the first time she reached for my P-spot: I felt an intense rush and literally saw stars. From that day, I decided to get a new toy, and every now and then, I try something else.

    Scorpio:
This is one of my favorites because of its simplicity and the comfort I found in it. Its size makes it easy to insert (thin shaft, with a small bulge for the head, maybe 6 inches in length), and its flexibility allows to direct the head on the right spot, and bend the toy so that the vibe rests between your legs. After all the years I’ve had it, I still use it for some comfortable fun, especially when in bed and not looking for anything too crazy, it fits and sits well no matter how you lay in bed. The vibe attached to it is great too; the vibrations seem evenly distributed. I would recommend the Scorpio for a first vibrating anal toy. It is also fun when with a lover in charge of the remote ;)

    A plug:
I can’t recall the name, as I bought it at a GV shop around the same time I got the Scorpio. I think it is not manufactured anymore. It is about 5 1/2 inches with the base widening to almost 2 inches and then narrows down a bit. Its shape is aimed at stimulating the prostate once inserted, and its base accepts one of those big silver bullets. I don’t use this toy as often as my other toys mainly because I need to take my time with it. I noticed I needed more preparation time for insertion than my other toys, as it is the one with the widest base. I use it both in bed (with the vibe) or in the shower (without the vibe), and it can be very pleasant once fully inserted.

    Aneros:
Hmm. Can I say: OMG… O.M.G… O…M…G…!!?!?! I already wrote about this awesome toy in response to another blog, but I will repeat myself with pleasure. I have the first generation of the Aneros. The new ones seem to have nice bulges that I can’t wait to try out. When one looks at the design of the Aneros, it may seem rather cheap by its look and the fact that it is all plastic, and rather expensive for the “stuff” you get compared to its price. My first time with it was not a success, as I did not find it as comfortable as I was hoping for. I think this came from my use of other toys made of softer materials. The magic behind this toy comes from the angle between each part (main part, handle/loop). Once inserted, it will nicely sit against your prostate and have the handle part press your perineum. How does it work? Almost by itself. All one has to do is: relax, and work your PC muscles. To make it clear: when you have an erection and try to keep it up, you do that little thing with your PC muscles. When you do this with the Aneros inserted, it will rock inside you, and press against your prostate. It may feel odd if you are not used to it, and you may need to learn how to practice, but once you get it, you will understand why many men love this toy. I can make myself pass out on demand with the Aneros (in a good way :) . Tip [from a SESA]: use a bullet/egg vibe with it. Works great. I love it. I only used it solo, but I could recommend it for intercourse for some passionate and intense orgasms.

    Crystal Wand:
I got this one from an online “drug store”. I remember reading about it as a woman’s toy, but I then found it was good for prostate stimulation as well. It is made of acrylic, ‘S’ shaped, about 10 inches in length and a little more than 1/2 inch in diameter. It comes with a nice little purple velvet bag. I truly love the smooth cool feeling you get when you insert it–very easy to insert. This toy falls in my “Zen moment” category. It feels good, requires very little effort, and I find it appeasing. Also good with a lover, as the wand is long enough to make it easy for your lover to handle it.

    Ecsta-Sleeve:
Really neat. Made of cyberskin and it fits a small mini vibe at the tip. The sleeve is about 6+ inches long, thick walls, and although the opening may seem small, it stretches well and allows for a tight but pleasurable feeling. The outer diameter is also very good and allows for a good “handling” of it. It is hard to explain to someone how it feels, but you should try it. I have used it by itself, with and without the vibe at the tip, and I use it in combo with either my Aneros or the Scorpio. I had some great orgasms from it. It is suggested to use a condom with it, but I personally prefer without. The feeling you get with the lube is just great. The design of the inside of the sleeve is wonderful. Depending on how often and how you use it, you may experience small cracks/tiny holes on the sleeve, but I have had mine for years and it’s still in great shape.
The “bleh” part would be maintenance. It is not too hard to clean the inside once done as the material stretches well, but it is a bit of a pain to dry and store (even using cornstarch).

    Pandora Plug:
Cool little guy. Around 4 inches long and between 1/2 and 1 inch thick, with the tip curling in like a finger to hit the prostate. With time I learned how to truly love the different modes on the vibe: low, medium, high, small-to-high (gradual), pulse, faster gradual pulses, constant (a bit stronger than the third level). I consider this one as part of my “Zen moment” category. I found the most pleasing way of using it was to cycle through each level of vibration over a long period of time to allow for a build-up. It could be used during intercourse or when receiving a hand job or a blow job with your lover controlling the vibration levels :) Like the wand, I like to use it to chill… You know, like waking up in the mood for something, but something mellow :) Also nice to use in combo with a sleeve.

    Quickie-Sleeve:
Wow… I found this one at a GV store (not yet available online) after a long chat with a SESA, and while I thought I had just been convinced to buy “another thing”, I was quite surprised when I got home. If you have a chance, go to the shop and play with your lubed fingers to feel the inside of this little buddy. It’s maybe 5 1/2 inches long, and close to 1 1/2 inch in diameter. The walls of the sleeve are thin, and the inside is ribbed. Whoever thought of the ribbing is a genius! I went “wow” right by putting it on. With some good lube it feels just great. I love my Ecsta Sleeve, but this one is really really really nice. I was skeptical by its thinness, but when chatting with the SESA, I understood why it was a good thing. While I haven’t used it in such ways yet, this sleeve is thin enough and of a size small enough that you can use it during a hand job, oral, or even intercourse (maybe with a little care and good timing). I like to use this one for quickies, in combo with my Aneros, or my plug, or my Scorpio. Fun in the shower as well. Another plus: super easy to clean compared to the Ecsta Sleeve.

    Golden Boy:
Another cute little guy. I recently wanted to get some beads myself, but then read about the Golden Boy and got more curious about it after a few visits at the GV shop. It is about 5 inches in length, and it is made of three bulges of about 1 inch in diameter, slightly curved (like other prostate toys). By handling it, even at home, I was not too sure. I was originally disappointed by the fact that the base had no room for a vibe. I think one called Bubbles has something for a bullet, and I might look into it next time. I tried the Golden Boy in the shower (always nice to have some toys that are easy to use and water proof), and I was surprised by its easy of insertion. It took just a little lube and it fit in fine. I used it in combo with the Quickie Sleeve and found it quite nice. My “bleh” comment to it was maybe that it sometimes slips out a little too easily (even when fully inserted). The feeling I got from the three bulges was quite good, close to what I was expecting.

    Rude Boy:
My last purchase. It is about 5 inches in length (that can be inserted), 1 inch or so in diameter. Its base curls up to fit right at the perineum where the vibe resides. I will admit my original disappointment the first time I played with it at the shop as the vibe has just an on/off function, with only one vibration speed. I would expect a multi-speed set up and a pulse for it. I tried to put the mini vibe instead, but that did not cut it. I also tried to put the Pandora against it to get the different pulses and vibration programs, but it’s not there yet.
I only played with this big guy once, so I cannot say too much. I like the design, and it felt ok. I will need more time to get used to it and find the right way to play with it. However, given the limited functionality, I find this guy a little pricey for what it offers, and I found the choice in batteries really unusual and difficult to remove (all the toys I own use watch batteries or AA/AAA. This one uses N batteries, I think). The vibe is hard to remove from the toy, but after a bit of work, one can pull it out and use it as is, which makes it fun as it is quite strong.
I have become very anal (no pun here) on what I expect from a toy; I have cheaper vibes that “wow’ed” me and others that I found really sexy. So far, the Rude Boy hasn’t provided me with that. But again, it is all about timing. I could see potential in it with used to it, and maybe even a good candidate for intercourse. Who knows…?

That’s all for now! I could go into detail, but I think a quick overview does as well :) There are a few other toys that I am still curious about, but I will have to wait for now. I would love to read what others have and how they like to use their toys. Cheers.
