Last year, peace activists Donna Sheehan and Paul Reffell took sex-positivity to a whole new level when, for the first time, they organized a global effort for people to climax simultaneously in protest of the growing prospect of war with Iran. This year as the tensions between our two countries escalate, Donna and Paul are at it again.
Some of you might ask what sex has to do with international relations but it has much to do, in fact. I feel as though so much war and violence, historical and present, has been in the name of owning, controlling, or hiding sexuality in some form or another. So a giant statement of owning your individual sexuality and using it as a voice against violence seems quite appropriate to me.
The Second Annual Global Orgasm is set for 6:08 Universal Time on Saturday, December 22nd. For those of us in San Francisco that means 10:08 pm on Friday the 21st. The website for the Global Orgasm will tell you what time to cum in your prospective place of residence.
