Crazy-Hot

The whole conversation started when my co-worker and I started talking about America’s Next Top Model (yay for winner CariDee!).

We were talking about Jaeda, specifically. Jaeda was offed about mid-way through, and since the make-over episode at the beginning of the season, she had complained that her short haircut made her feel “not like a woman”. Pfft, whatever, was my response to that. If hair a woman makes, then… well, I’ll keep my snarky comment to myself. But, did she not see G.I. Jane or V for Vendetta?

Anyhow, my point is that Jaeda had a very strong androgynous look, and she should have rocked that look, like my favorite model and mutant (Arclight in X-Men 3: The Last Stand), Omahyra does. I mean, have you seen this woman? Yowza, and yikes, all in one.

Black FloggerYou see, she looks like she may eat you if you look at her sideways… and that, my friends, is what this article is all about: the dark, dangerous and scary — and their appeal.

You know what I’m talking about.

Now, of course I don’t know Omahrya personally, but when looking at the pictures of her and her (then?) boyfriend in this photo book , you can practically smell the danger in the air. Mmmmm, can you smell it? Her character in X-Men didn’t speak a word, but with one clap of her hands… the world vibrated. Could you image what she could do in bed with those fingers… um….

And of course, there’s Shane on the L-Word, with her slouching and brooding. She has “danger” written all over her, yet she’s the show’s “hot” girl with the sex appeal that everyone desperately tries to bed.

Beaded Tweezer Clips

I guess I’m talking about is something similar to the Bad Boy Syndrome, in which women find themselves drawn to men they know are bad news. And as I don’t really have to point out, this phenomenon is genderless… everyone knows a Bad Girl.

I’m talking about one more step across the “bad” line though… right into “kinda crazy”. You know… those people that you know are a bit odd, off, potentially dangerous… and you can’t not be attracted to them.

So, after some thought, here are my top “crazy-hot” picks:

  1. Omahyra
  2. Michelle Rodriguez
  3. Clea DuVall (she may just be shy, I’m not sure, but she scares me a little bit)
  4. Anyone with a bloody lip
  5. Sigourney Weaver in Alien Resurrection
  6. Famke Jansen in anything

My former #1 “crazy-hot” crush: Angelina Jolie. (However, and I’m sorry AJ… you’re just not dangerous and scary enough anymore. You used to talk about knives and blood and now you’re with “bland Brad” and have little ones running around and I’m pretty sure you don’t have those knives sitting out anymore. And I used to want to drink whiskey with you, but now I think a cup of tea would be best. But I still love you — just in a “different” way now.)

I asked some of my friends and coworkers for their list of crazy-hot people and here is what they said:

  1. Michelle Rodriguez
  2. Grace Jones
  3. Gary Oldham
  4. My friends, Birgetta Bisztray and Cara Williams
  5. I say Michelle Rodriguez one more time
  6. –D.

Bondage Rope “From my own personal experience, I know that people (me included) are attracted to these “dangerous, on the edge” folks because we can live vicariously thru them, making their “badness” our “badness” without living that “badness” all the time, or getting into too much trouble for it. It’s always nice to be able to say…“but so-and-so made me do it!” or “so-and-so did it first”, which kind’s makes it okay in a rationalized sort of way — especially when you are talking about a particular kind of sex that you wouldn’t necessarily have initiated yourself, but have thought about.”

My list:

  1. Dave Navarro
  2. Anthony Kiedis
  3. My ex-girlfriend (true story)
  4. Dizzy the Clown (there’s something about a surly, drunk, beat-up clown!)
  5. Old-school Madonna (Erotica era)
  6. Grace Jones
  7. Annie Lennox (in the Sweet Dreams video)
I actually have a fantasy about Annie Lennox and Grace Jones beating me up at the same time.
  8. Michael Madsen
  9. –BG

  1. Angelina (you can be crazy and have kids!)
  2. Anyone named “Crank” that works on their own motorcycle, especially if they are bald.
  3. Fanny Ardant in Elizabeth
  4. Johnny Depp (especially as Jack Sparrow in the Pirate movies and in Cry Baby)
  5. Jennifer Jason Leigh (in Single White Female)
  6. Neve Campbell in Wild Things
  7. –CB

  1. Michelle Rodriguez
  2. Laila Ali
  3. Lucia Rijker
  4. Omahyra
  5. Syd Blakovich (aka shameless self promotion)
  6. –Syd

So, it looks like Michelle Rodriquez is a clear “crazy-hot” favorite around here!

Finally, one of the words most often used to describe someone we are attracted to is “hot”, which, defined, often means “danger” or “dangerous.” Just look at some of entries from the answers.com online dictionary:

Hot:

  • Having or giving off heat; capable of burning.
  • Radioactive, especially to a dangerous degree.
  • Violent; raging.
  • Sexually excited or exciting.

It’s really no surprise then, that people are sexually drawn to the dangerous.

Attraction (and what follows) is dangerous. Picture a mental and physical dance fueled by chemistry and lust… bodies filled with teeth and bones… tangling and writhing….

Kinda scary, isn’t it? Mmmm, scary!
