In Co-op City in the Bronx, NY -— the largest housing cooperative in the US. When did you start working at GV? 3 1/2 years ago (I can’t believe it!) What did you do before working at GV? I’ve always been in the buying and/or operations department of big retailers, either based here in the Bay Area, or back in NYC. They’ve been both large and small, but never as much fun as Good Vibes! What’s your favorite thing about working for GV? The people—everyone’s so great about what we do, open and honest and thinking about the customers…and what we do is, add joy to the world. What’s the most interesting experience you’ve had at work? The trade shows I’ve attended are otherworldly—the porn show in Vegas is pretty unreal. Folks lined up to have their photos taken with porn stars, who look just as plastic in real life as they do in the movies (well, at least the ones who appear at the shows, that is). Did you ever think you’d be selling sex toys? No! I was just a nice preppy high-schooler in NYC, fantasizing about the men who worked at Bloomingdales on 59th Street. They were so handsome, I imagined myself going into retail to be with them, and here I am (but they still don’t sell sex toys at Bloomies). What’s your idea of a “perfect” day? Hanging out with my dog, sitting a crowded café with the New York Times (Sunday’s the best, I can mull over the crossword puzzle), people watching in between writing down my answers (in pen, natch). Maybe catch a movie and eat some ice cream while walking down the sidewalk with my boyfriend. Selling sex toys doesn’t work into the fantasy. Name five things you couldn’t live without? Dog Companionship What’s your favorite (sexy) movie? Annie Hall and Brazil Book? The Debt to Pleasure (Food Porn) Song? Temptation (Heaven 17) Where could we find you on any given Saturday night? At my boyfriend’s house with my dog and his cats. What’s one thing about you that would surprise your co-workers if they found out? I like to be alone. And I like to watch the Disney Channel. Where do you see yourself in 5 years? 10 years? I mean, if you’re not still working at GV! Maybe taking more time to travel. What’s one thing you’ve learned by working at GV that you’d like to share with our customers? You’re okay, and everything you do is fine. Don’t worry so much about what others think!

Judi B. >> a cake eater and the ex-editor of GV Magazine. Her idea of a perfect day would involve: mimosas in bed, Huevos Rancheros with real red chili, a phone call from her mom, a trip to the dog beach, and cocktails with friends while watching America’s Next Top Model. She shares her life with her hot librarian girlfriend and their two brilliant pit bulls. She has over 80 neck-ties.
